The 1st Patmos Paradise Squash Open 2026 is in its final stages

Athletes from seven countries are set to gather in Kampos for a special two-day international competition

The 1st Patmos Paradise Squash Open 2026 is in its final stages; this new sporting event aims to add yet another international fixture to Patmos’s calendar. The tournament will take place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September at the Patmos Paradise Hotel in Kampos, with players from seven countries taking part.

Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium are represented at the event, confirming its international character. Standout participants include Ergin Yörükoğlu, No. 3 in the Turkish national team, Jason Michas, a member of the Harvard squash team, the Cypriot internationals Kyriakos Solomonides and Alexandros Stavrou, the Greek champion Athina Gaspinatos, the Swiss Masters champion Marco Valpiani and the Greek international Odysseas Menexelis. Also of note are the participations of Eddie Filip, Ibrahim Bulsuk and Ulf Knaus. Patmos will be represented by local athletes Dimitris Konstantinidis and Stavros Hatzisavvas, adding a special local flavour to the event.

The tournament is organised by the Petros Tzamaloukas Squash Academy and is held under the patronage of Patmos Municipality. Matches begin on Friday at 16:00, whilst on Saturday the action starts at 10:00, with the finals scheduled for 20:00. Admission for the public is free. The event is being held with the support of Patmos Paradise Hotel, Blue Star Ferries, Atmos Beach and Azzurro Diving, whilst special mention is made of the contribution of Dimitris Athanasopoulos, Manager of Patmos Paradise Hotel.

The two-day tournament will conclude on Sunday 13 September with the Players’ Party at Atmos Beach. The organisers’ aim is for the Patmos Paradise Squash Open to become an established annual international sporting event, linking squash with sports tourism, the island’s cosmopolitan spirit and the unique identity of Patmos.
