PATMIAN CULTURE

Society of Patmian Culture

The Society of Patmian Culture was founded in 1968 by Mrs. Katie Argyropoulou and her daughter Efthalia K. Konstantinidis and members of a group of friends of Patmos, in order to protect and promote the tradition and architectural heritage of Patmos.

Around the same period, the Stavraka house was purchased, which is located in Hora of Patmos, just before the entrance of the Monastery. Its purpose was to house the Patmian Culture and to carry out cultural and educational events related to tradition and the environment.

This historic building was built between 1870 – 1880 and is a classic example of a traditional patrician mansion of the neoclassical period. The current chairman of the steering committee is Mrs. Nanda Geroulanou, who continues the work of Patmian Culture, keeping the tradition of so many years.

In this context, every year a series of events, exhibitions and presentations are organized at the Stavraka House, which are of great interest and stand out in the cultural events of the island.
