Elias was born in Athens. However, he has spent most of his life in Patmos island, as he has been professionally active on the island for more than 40 years! His official professional identity is jeweler, as he owns one of the most beloved spots in Skala, where one can find a large collection of jewelry and gold for every occasion.
But as we said, this is the official version, since behind the profile of the gentle but introverted goldsmith, there is a whole almost unseen world, which hardly can someone suspect. Even if you happen to hear him studying his music with his guitar in the quiet hours in his shop.
Let us begin, briefly, to unravel this man’s talent, which is inversely proportional to his image and his low profile. Elias is a composer and musician. He has written important works for piano, guitar and flute, which have been used in performances, films and events, have been performed in concerts in Greece and around the world and have also been recorded.
His work could be a complete life’s work. But when Elias is not composing with notes, he picks up his brushes and composes with colours and shapes. Most of them are abstract and dreamlike, having a rich and important body of work to show, which has been presented in numerous exhibitions.
But even at this level, Elias’ concerns are not relieved. And then he uses his pen to capture in lyrics and texts all that he wishes to express. As he says himself, the common characteristic that permeates and connects his multifaceted work is:
“the amalgamation and interaction of painting, music and poetry
aiming at the flow and movement in colour and visuality and light
in music and in speech”.
His work in general is not always “easy to digest”, nor could it be described as “easy”. But his acceptance, despite his almost obsessive shyness, is quite characteristic and even touching. Very sparingly, he has started to present some of his works on his youtube channel and each of his posts almost instantly counts many thousands of views.
