Kostas Horianopoulos is a unique case. As unique as the constructions made by his hands. He is the last descendant of a long generation of traditional wooden boats builders from Samos and for the last few years he has been living and working in Patmos.

Having developed his craft to an admirable degree, he works in the island’s shipyard building traditional and modern boats for the few remaining who can appreciate the value of traditional construction. In the afternoon, when he gets off work to rest, he makes unique kayaks in his personal space!

His shipbuilding knowledge, applied to sophisticated computer programs and combined with his hands-on ability to create masterpieces, results in crafts that can only inspire admiration. It is no coincidence that several of his creations have been purchased to adorn luxury yachts.

A fact that could be described as “unfair” since the crafts he builds is not only decorative. Their buoyant capabilities have impressed many experts of the genre, as Kostas tries to match the requirements of his art with the particular wishes and demands of each customer.
