TREHANTIRI

Trehantiri

tavern

Trehantiri is one of the island’s most reliable dining options. It comes very close to the very definition of the archetypal little fish tavern that everyone has in mind! It’s in the village of Skala, on the road leading to the back of the village, toward Hohlaka. If you’re looking for a romantic dinner with a sea view, don’t choose this place! Trehantiri won’t offer you that luxury, but it will generously provide you with everything else that makes up the perfect seafood dinner!

This is a family-run business through and through, and that’s exactly what the flavors you’ll taste are like: perhaps even a little better than what you’d enjoy at your own Sunday family dinner! Fresh fish—caught by the owners themselves—salads, small plates, and appetizers, all prepared with care in the restaurant’s spotless kitchen. The cooking is always spot-on, the quality consistent, the service fast, and the icing on the cake—prices that will put a smile on your face.

Trehantiri opens in the afternoon, but since the food is made from scratch, if you tend to eat late, some of the dishes may already be sold out. Since they don’t take reservations, you may need to be patient, especially if you’re visiting the island during the peak tourist season. Trehantiri is one of the few restaurants that stays open almost year-round and serves as a hangout and meeting spot for locals and visitors alike. Some of the dishes worth trying are scorpionfish (when available), stamnagathi (or “stiforadika” as it’s called in the local dialect), and octopus with caramelized onions.
