Free Guided Tour of Patmos: Discover the Sacred History of the Island

On the occasion of the International Guide Day, which is celebrated every year on February 21, the Dodecanese Association of Certified Guides organizes a unique free tour of Patmos on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity to get to know two of the most important religious and historical monuments of the island: the Cave of the Apocalypse and the Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Theologian. The tour will be conducted by the experienced guide Rafael Yamaeus, who will take participants on an exciting journey through the history, traditions and religious significance of these two unique monuments.

The Cave of the Apocalypse is considered one of the most important Christian sites in the world, as it was there that Saint John the Theologian wrote the Book of Revelation. A short distance away, the famous Monastery of St. John, founded in the 11th century, stands as a symbol of Orthodox faith and cultural heritage.

The tour is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. from the Central Square of Skala. For the convenience of visitors, a 50-seat bus will be provided free of charge, as well as bottled water for participants. The total duration of the tour is estimated at two hours. This activity is an excellent opportunity for both residents and visitors of the island to explore the rich religious and historical heritage of Patmos, under the guidance of an experienced guide.

Participation is free, but seating is limited, so be sure to register early.
