Cultural Spring in Patmos with the Greek National Opera

From April 30 to May 2, 2025, Patmos welcomes two important productions of the Greek National Opera, offering unique experiences of musical theatre and entertainment for the whole family.

The award-winning musical “Silence, the King listens” by Nikos Kypourgos will be presented at the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Patmos.
The performances will take place as follows:

  • Morning performances for schools on April 30 and May 2, at 10:00 and 12:00.
  • Evening performances for the public on May 1, at 18:00 and 20:00.

The performance, inspired by Andersen’s fairy tale “The King’s New Clothes”, unfolds the story of a king unsatisfied with every musical work presented to him, until imagination takes over and provides the solution. Nikos Kypourgos’ music and Theodore Abazis’ direction combine lyricism with humour, creating an experience that approaches music and theatre with freshness and creativity. The libretto was written by Thomas Moschopoulos, in collaboration with the composer. The sets and costumes were designed by Kenny McLellan, while the lighting design was undertaken by Nikos Sotiropoulos.


Antonis Kordopatis (King), Vassia Zacharopoulou (Muse) and Dimitris Nalbandis (Musician) participate in the performance, accompanied by a small musical ensemble in which participatethe musicians : Sophia Efklidou (cello), Christos Sakellaridis (piano) and Odysseas Siozopoulos (clarinet).

At the same time, the enchanting musical Isadora Duck” will be screened in two screenings:

  • April 30 and May 2, at 19:00.

The performance, based on the fairy tale of the same name by Stella Michaelidou, tells with tenderness and sensitivity the story of a little duck struggling to pursue her dream of becoming a ballerina, while talking about the acceptance of diversity. The text and direction is by Stella Michaelidou and the music by Kostas Vombolou, with sets and costumes by Kenny McLellan and choreography by Fotis Diamantopoulos.

The cultural events will be accompanied by educational music workshops, led by Nikos Kypourgos and Elita Kounadi, which are addressed to young musicians and artists of the region.

All actions are offered with free admission and take place within the framework of the programme “The National Opera House in the Region”, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0”, co-funded by the European Union.

Patmos, once again, is transformed into a vibrant cultural centre, inviting the public to participate in a great celebration of art, imagination and creativity.
