From Saturday, August 9, 2025, and for an entire month, the town of Patmos will host a unique art exhibition at the Nikolaidis Mansion: Eva Tsagkarakis’ exhibition entitled “Lunar Orbits, Herbal Remedies and Healing Cycles,” as part of the Ministry of Culture’s events for the August Full Moon.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a multimedia project that combines sculpture, painting, photography, embroidery, and drawings into a unified body of work, where contemporary artistic creation intersects organically with the artist’s knowledge, experience, and memories. Through an abstract, internal approach, the exhibition narrates the artist’s deep relationship with therapy and traditional medicine, which she has studied and incorporated into her work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Central to her work are the sculptures-receptors of herbs, made of natural materials such as clay, wood and stone – materials that she collects from the island. Their form and texture function as carriers of memory and energy, as contemporary ritual objects that allude to the healings of the past and the cyclicality of nature. The theory of the Five Elements, her close relationship with Patmos from a young age, as well as her spiritual experiences during her stay at the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi are deep sources of inspiration for the artist. The exhibition develops in dialogue with selected archaeological and more recent exhibits from the Nikolaidis Museum, creating an atmosphere of reflection, where contemporary art does not contrast with the past, but illuminates it in new ways. Memory, light, matter, and intuition become tools for visitors to experience empathy and participation beyond the aesthetic. It is a mystical, almost ritualistic visual approach, where the island of Patmos\u2014with its landscape, energy, and history\u2014is present in every work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eva Tsagkarakis is a graduate of the Second Sculpture Workshop of the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she graduated with honors. With a scholarship, she continued her studies at the Universit\u00e9 Paris VII in Paris, where she attended workshops on video art, Chinese painting, and the theoretical-practical project “Ma: R\u00e9flexions Cycliques et Rituelles.” Originally from Leros and based in Athens, Tsagaraki maintains a strong connection with Patmos, a connection that is clearly expressed in this exhibition. Her recent stay on the island inspired the creation of a unified group of works, in direct dialogue with the museum’s space and exhibits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
