Patmos Music Festival 2025 – From August 26 to September 7th
Two weeks filled with music promise to transform the “island of Revelation” into a meeting place for art, faith, and culture.
Patmos is preparing to fill with melodies and sounds that connect the present with the broader ecumenical past. From August 26 to September 7, 2025, it will host the 4th Chamber Music Festival and the 23rd Religious Music Festival, in a double event that has now established itself as one of the most important cultural events of the summer in the Aegean.

The first section, the Chamber Music Festival (August 26–31), returns for its fourth year with the participation of leading Greek and international artists. Highly aesthetic concerts will present a rich repertoire, from the Viennese classicism of Mozart and Schubert to the eclectic creations of Ravel, Gershwin, and Piazzolla. This year’s program includes, among other things, the “Summers” on August 27, dedicated to the memory of Guido Zaccagnini, as well as evenings that combine interpretive virtuosity with the inspiration of contemporary classical music. Also noteworthy is the presence of the great director Bruno Monsaingeon, to whom a special screening will be dedicated, while he will also teach young pianists through masterclasses. At the same time, young music students from Patmos will have the opportunity to participate in educational activities, highlighting the festival’s role as a center for artistic cultivation and the dissemination of musical education.

Next up is the Religious Music Festival (September 1–7), which celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year. Patmos, with its mystical landscape, is the ideal setting for a program that combines sound, light, and speech in places with deep spiritual significance. Among this year’s highlights are the performance of Olivier Messiaen’s “Quatuor pour la fin du temps” by an international “dream team” of musicians, as well as the presentation of Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words of Christ” by the Adorno Quartet. Greek soprano Eleni Lydia Stamellou will present a recital based on the medieval Cantigas de Santa Maria, while particular emphasis is also given to choral music. On September 1, the Musicaeterna Byzantina choir will open the festival with a program dedicated to the Apostle John, while the curtain will fall on September 7 with the Armenian Chamber Choir, which will perform the Armenian divine liturgy Patarag set to music by Komitas.

More than seventy musicians will be on the island this year, bringing with them instruments and experiences from different musical traditions. The unique challenge of transporting a large Fazioli piano through the narrow streets of Patmos has become part of the festival’s identity, reminding us that every concert is the result of collective effort, dedication, and love for music.
All festival events are open to the public free of charge, but reservations are required via the website www.patmosmusicfestival.com. You can find the detailed program for each day here. The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Patmos and the Associazione Patmos Music Festival, and is supported by generous sponsors, especially the main sponsor Alain Rauscher.

Patmos, with its religious tradition and cultural glamour, is transformed every summer into a lively setting where music is not just entertainment, but an experience of unity, inspiration and mysticism. The Patmos Music Festival 2025 promises to once again offer unforgettable moments to those who visit the island, connecting global musical creativity with the unique spirit of the place.
