Fotini Darra in Patmos – An evening dedicated to Mikis Theodorakis

Fotini Darra returns to Patmos for a musical evening entitled “The Meeting with Mikis Theodorakis” on Friday, September 12, 2025, in the courtyard of the General Gymnasium-Lyceum of Patmos. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free to the public.

The performance is dedicated to the great Greek composer, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth. The program is not limited to well-known songs by Mikis Theodorakis, but also includes selections that reveal his artistic influences: pieces by Manos Hadjidakis, traditional and rebetiko songs, as well as songs that marked the career of the performer herself before and after her collaboration with Theodorakis.

The texts based on personal memories and moments from her rehearsals with him also have a special place in the performance, giving a more human dimension to the musical experience. It is no coincidence that in 2012 Theodorakis entrusted Fotini Darra with two of his works, “The Passenger” and “Radar,” which they recorded together under his guidance.

Giorgos Papachristoudis is on piano and orchestration, with Mimis Doutsoulis on bass and Vangelis Zarmoutis on bouzouki. The choice of this small but powerful musical ensemble promises a pure and meaningful presentation of these precious songs.

The event is supported by the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Patmos and has been added to the island’s cultural calendar as an event that combines quality with open access for all.
