Nikos Michalopoulos in Patmos
On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Patmos Athletic Association “Stadion” is organizing a day of intense symbolism and meaningful content, hosting the renowned author and javelin champion Nikos Michalopoulos on the island for two separate events aimed at both the student community and the general public.

The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Skala Hotel, where Nikos Michalopoulos will meet with students from Patmos schools. In this event specially designed for children and teenagers, the distinguished speaker will share his thoughts and experiences on the values of sport, the power of will, and the fight against bullying in schools. With direct and experiential speech, drawing on his own journey to championship and the difficulties he faced in his life, he will attempt to inspire students to believe in themselves, persevere in their goals, and stand up courageously against all forms of violence or disparagement. His presence alongside the children of the island is an important initiative with a strong educational and social impact.

On the afternoon of the same day, at 8 p.m., the main event—a speech—will take place at the Patmion Cultural Center, accompanied by the award ceremony for the club’s athletes for 2025. In an evening dedicated to effort, excellence, and athletic ethos, Nikos Michalopoulos will develop his philosophy around inner transcendence and the “peaks” that we are called upon to conquer first within ourselves. His beloved book, “The Peaks Within Us,” which has been widely acclaimed and continuously reprinted, encapsulates precisely this message of personal empowerment and self-awareness, which he conveys through his speeches throughout the country.
During the evening event, the audience will have the opportunity to purchase the author’s books, which will be available at the venue from the Koukoumavla bookstore, providing an opportunity for a more personal encounter with his work and ideas.

The events are organized by the Patmos Gymnastics Association “Stadion” and under the auspices of the Municipality of Patmos and the Dodecanese Athletic Association (EAS SEGAS), confirming the steadfast commitment of local authorities to supporting activities that promote sports, education, and culture. February 19 is expected to be a day of inspiration for Patmos, reminding us that the most important victories are not only recorded in stadiums, but mainly within ourselves.
