The Light of Patmos Through the Eyes of Two Russian Artists

A Unique Exhibition Combining Photography and Monotype at the Patmion Cultural Centre

Patmos, the island of contemplation and mystical light, has always been a refuge and a source of inspiration for artists from every corner of the globe. Among them are the photographer Boris Levitskiy and the painter Yulia Reznikova, two acclaimed artists from Moscow who have developed a deep, almost organic connection with the place. Without confining themselves to a conventional or descriptive representation of the space, they allow the island’s unique energy to act as an experiential conduit that invisibly nourishes their artistic identity.

From September 18 to 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the public will have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of this love at their joint exhibition, which will be hosted at the Patmion Cultural Center. This exhibition represents a rare artistic collaboration, where the precision of photography meets the spontaneous expressiveness of painting.

Boris Levitskiy, with a long history of exhibiting internationally and roots in a distinguished artistic family, uses his camera lens to capture moments of absolute silence, focusing on the clean lines and diffused light of the Aegean. In contrast, Yulia Reznikova, an experienced printmaker and art teacher, presents her own perspective through the demanding technique of monotype. Her monotypes – unique, one-off prints brimming with emotion – transform landscapes and human figures into abstract, poetic forms.

The exhibition promises a tranquil yet profound journey into the world of silent observation. Through an ongoing dialogue between black and white, colour, light and shadow, the two artists invite us to rediscover Patmos, not merely as a geographical destination, but as an inner state of spiritual uplift and inspiration.
