Pyrino
souvlaki - fast food
In one of the most central locations in Skala, right across from the harbor and the Patmos Yacht Club—the island’s passenger terminal—Pyrino has been a go-to spot since 2009 for anyone looking for authentic, high-quality street food in Patmos. Panagiotis created a small but distinctive souvlaki joint, where tradition, quality ingredients, and proper charcoal grilling take center stage every day. After all, the fact that Pyrino remains open and bustling most of the year has made it a favorite hangout not only for summer visitors but also for the island’s permanent residents.
Their gyros, which is also grilled over charcoal—something quite special—stands out for its rich flavor and unique aroma, while all of the restaurant’s grilled dishes are prepared with the same care. On the menu, you’ll find classic souvlaki in fluffy pita bread, delicious sandwiches with fresh rolls, as well as hearty portions of chicken fillet, chicken nuggets, kebabs, and fresh salads.
Although Pyrino doesn’t have any tables and chairs, in the summer the experience takes on a character all its own. In front of the restaurant, a large public space opens up beneath the towering ficus trees, where the shade and the sea breeze create a sense of coolness and carefree relaxation. There, locals and visitors sit back on the benches around the trees, enjoying their meal in an authentic, unpretentious summer atmosphere that evokes the true spirit of a Greek island.
